Cooking with Attitude: Sourdough Myth Buster
Sunday, August 7th. 2-5 pm. @ Our Community Kitchen (Olympia)
Sourdough Myth #1: You need to buy dried sourdough starter or gifted some live sourdough starter to start your own. Wrong! You can start sourdough with just flour and water right in your kitchen!
Sourdough Myth #2: You need to discard about half of the sourdough starter every time you feed it. Wrong, again! You can keep on feeding without tossing any. (And you can make many things with what you do not save.)
Sourdough Myth #3: Sourdough doesn’t work with whole wheat flour. Wong, one more time! Although it acts slightly differently, whole wheat sourdough works and make yummy wholewheat bread.
Working with Sourdough, we connect with most fundamental elements of our environment — air and water— directly. In this workshop, we will learn how to capture life in the sourdough starter and bake bread and crackers.
