Cooking with Attitude: Egg Rolls and Spring Rolls

$45.00

Sunday, August 10th. 2-5 pm. @ Our Community Kitchen (Olympia)

What’s called “Egg Rolls” usually do not have eggs in it. The fresh salad rolls typically called “Spring Rolls” in the US are called “gỏi cuốn” in Vietnam which literary means Summer Rolls. In many parts of Asia, “Spring Rolls” are typically deep fried, much like Egg Rolls in the US. Doesn’t it sound like a riddle or Zen Koan?

We will explore ideas for seasonal eating and contemplate on cultural appropriation v.s. cross-pollination of global cuisines. We make Egg Rolls and Spring Rolls — both vegetarian and non-vegetarian— and enjoy them with various dipping sauces.

Please note that although we will have dipping sauce without peanuts available, participants may be exposed to peanut products.
